Arthur Augustine Dallman

Arthur Augustine Dallman (1883-1963)

One of the non-members of the LNHS. Dallman lived in Doncaster and was a well-known naturalist in the north of England. Born in 1883 in Cumberland, he was a botanist, cecidologist and editor of the ‘North Western Naturalist’. He helped found the Liverpool Botanical Society in 1906 and was President on at least 2 occasions. His interest in plant galls led him to publish a gall checklist for Cheshire of about 180 different species (Dallman 1921). Indeed, he wrote many papers on the subject of plant galls.
